An attempt to sail
We went out to the marina today later in the afternoon to go for a sail. The wind was supposed to be pretty good. 11 knots out of the north, but 6 knots out of the east leading up to it. All really good wind it should have been an amazing sail.
We headed out at 2:30 p.m. and were a bit worried about the clouds over the marina. You could tell it was raining high up in over the entire valley to the south, but it didn't look like it was hitting the ground. We decided to keep going, figuring it would blow over pretty quick.

We took everything from the car down to the boat, and it became pretty clear very quickly that this could be a bad idea. One boat was out on the water, but they started heading in. As we got the last bag in the down they came out of the channel into the marina, and they were RUSHING. The wind was blowing a bit, but then we kept having HUGE gusts.

The boats in the marina were really getting thrown around, the wind and gusts were really confused, we were getting gusts from the West, and then they would switch from out of the East.

In the end we decided against going out. The wind had mostly died, but the gusts were still hitting hard. I pulled out my anemometer and was seeing gusts of over 20knots. This was pretty impressive as the normal wind between was non-existent at that point. I can reef and handle 20 knots of wind on my boat, but the wind flipping directions and gusting so hard compared to the ambient wind, just wasn't going to be safe.
