Jump Limitless Flight

Jump Limitless Flight

Today we went and did my Mom and Marks Christmas present to us. She got us tickets to a virtual reality wingsuit simulator. It was really really cool. We went down about lunchtime to Draper and watched a few videos of people that had done it.
Then Nikki and I went back and got suited up. You get into these wingsuits that are a little bit heavy, they are really neat though. They have someone there helping you put it on, so it's pretty easy, but you are also hanging from a hook in the back to keep you upright.

After that they guide you into individual rooms that are done up like the inside of airplanes. They put on the virtual reality suites and then sync everything up. At that point I could see and hear Nikki in my headset. I could also see my hands moving as well. They strap you to a system on your back.

Then you step up to the edge of the airplane door. You can feel your toes on the ledge of the platform that you are standing on. Then they count down and you jump. It feels pretty realistic. You start falling right away, and lift your head to slow you down and level you out. After that you can twist your arms to move left and right in the air. They have some flags setup that you fly between on the first jump, which was nice to get the hang of turns.

At the end of the run the back contraption slides you down and you parachute that last little bit down to a platform. You aren't really in control on this part, but they give you handholds to feel more immersive.

After the first jump, you end up on a platform above a cliff. They make any adjustments to your suite that you need, and make sure your ready to go. You step up to the edge and jump again.

Nikki couldn't keep her head up very well, and was always way lower than me. It was need to see her streaking through the canyon. She rarely if ever saw me other than the platform. This second jump is through a canyon in Utah. It was pretty neat. You land at the bottom of the canyon on another platform.

The third and last jump was probably my favorite. They have three different landing areas, so it's neat that you get to control where you land. Nikki hit the ground on this one at one point, she didn't pull up enough at a hill part. It doesn't do anything, but kind of scared her.

Big Mark went after us. The kids watched him suit up and then we watched our videos. Mark got a bit nauseous on the last run, but I think he had fun.

I thought it was pretty fun. It's a bit expensive, but really is a unique experience.
