First Spring Sail 2021 (mildly NSFW)

With our marina's days being numbered we decided to head out for our first sail of spring.
I have time off I need to burn, so we decided to head out sailing on Friday April 2nd. This was the first time we had been out since the weather turned warmer. The weather was going to hit the 70s, though the wind was not supposed to be that great in the afternoon when we would be sailing. The winds were supposed to be from the north at 3-5 knots. This isn't terrible, but it's not the best winds to sail in.

We tried taking the kids, but they were more interested in playing at Grandma's house than spending the afternoon on the water. Driving into the marina we could spot three boats already on the water, a good sign that the sailing would be better than we expected. We stopped by the Harbour Master to talk before prepping the boat and heading out.
After transiting the channel and getting into open water we raised the sails and we headed west towards Eardley Spite. Luckily for us the wind predictions were off, we had a steady 10 knots (12mph) wind. The wind had shifted just before we left from the south to the north. This means that the lake was calm with little to no waves.

The clear sky's let the sun shine all afternoon, letting us soak up the sun for the first time since last fall.
Nikki spent a few hours below cleaning out the boat, getting it ready for the rest of spring.

Really it turned out to be some of the best sailing we have done. We sailed out to Eardley and then made one of the slickest Tacs we have ever made and started the trip back, heading northeast most of the way till the wind died out about 4:20. We fired up the outboard and motored the last mile into the marina.
